Owner Reclaim InformationOwners missing pets should file a lost report in person at the shelter as soon as possible. With the high volume of phone calls we receive and the potential inaccuracy of describing an animal over the phone, physically viewing the animals at the shelter is the best way to make certain whether your lost pet has been picked up. Photos are also a great help, and can be emailed to angela@cary.tc, posted on our Facebook page (or sent as a message) at www.facebook.com/noahsarkcarlsbad, or printed out and delivered in person. Animals brought in by Animal Control or private citizens running loose are subject to a 4-day stray hold, after which they become property of the shelter and can be placed. Owner surrendered animals may be eligible for placement immediately pending medical/temperament evaluation. All adopted animals will be spayed/neutered prior to release. Owner reclaim fees are as follows: • $5 shelter fee • $25 sterilization deposit if animal is not spayed/neutered (Required by City and State Ordinance) • $10 microchip fee if animal is not microchipped (Required by City Ordinance) • Owners claiming animals who have been at the shelter longer than the 4-day stray hold may also be charged for vaccinations, veterinary care, grooming, etc. as deemed necessary. A full list of potential charges is displayed at the shelter. • Owners will be responsible for any veterinary bills incurred by the shelter for animals picked up with injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care even if the stray hold has not passed. • An additional $10 per day, per animal boarding fee will apply if an owner is notified that their pet is at the shelter and not picked up the same day. |
